Port Alice, day one

We got up this morning and mom made us breakfast.  We got the 11am ferry and stopped for a few provisions before we headed up island.

Choppy waters on the ferry crossing

provisions

The road to Port McNeill is pretty good, almost no traffic.  The weather was hit and miss.  We stopped in Woss to call our Airbnb host. Woss is not worth a stop, here is a picture or two.

Nice Fall colours on the road up.

We met out host outside of Port McNeill and then headed over to highway 30.

Our place is actually a condo is a building.  On the second floor.  With a bit of water view.  Jump forward to a few minutes ago,  we were just finishing dinner and we heard a huge bang outside. And then an air horn.  There is a bear our back trying to get into the garbage bin!  No photos.  Not yet at least!

water glimpse

We took a little walk before dinner to see what's here.  Not much but it is beautiful.

We stopped at Rumble Beach

And a bit of camera birding.  This first one was a good sighting, a Greater White-fronted Goose, not common in this area but probably migrating through.

and a terrible photo of a Lincoln Sparrow
